Journal

I hope you all have had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas! My apologies for being slack in not updating here more often. 😢 My last post was on Nov 4th at treatment #10. Since then I had treatment #11 on Nov 18th and then the FINAL treatment #12 on Dec 2nd (the Monday after Thanksgiving)!!! It was a celebratory day in which I rang the bell to recognize the final chemo treatment. My mom, sister and Sean were there for the BIG milestone! My sister brought cake to celebrate! Lol Sean left the following day for Peru to visit Caroline. It was her birthday on Dec 4th and since neither Sean or myself went this summer she was wanting him to visit before the New Year. Two days later on Thurs morning my sweet mom, who was staying with me, came down sick. She left to head back to Columbia feeling both physically awful and emotionally too, as she didn’t want to leave me. That night in the middle of the night I started with symptoms like fever and just feeling horrible. I called the after hours triage nurse early in the morning and they recommended coming in to the ER. Thankfully, my sister has been on an extended leave from work and was available to drive me there and stay with me. I was there most of the day, which was the best thing because they started fluids, antibiotics and meds for the flu. It ended up being the flu and had I not gone to the ER it would have probably been much worse. Following that bump in the road, I’ve continued to improve and slowly am regaining strength. It has been a blessing to have the chemo treatments behind me and now be able to focus on being able to get stronger and discover the new normal. It was a wonderful early Christmas gift!

There are so many things about this past 6 months that honestly I really do not care to remember, but one thing that stands out to me is the awesome support and love that I received from SO many of you! There were those who sent notes or cards, brought flowers throughout the entire journey, sent gifts, made meals, helped decorate for Christmas and even helped me clean! 😁 God truly put a tribe around me and for that I am SO grateful!! This journey has stretched me and grown me in many ways.

The journey isn’t over, but I pray the worst is behind me. I’m believing for complete healing. 🙏🏼 Tomorrow is my first trip back to check in with the oncologist and get labs done to see if my WBC is improving. Then, Jan 17th is a PET scan to see if the cancer is still in remission. I will get results on Mon, Jan 20th. Hopefully, I will return to the office the next day after working remote since late July. Prayers appreciated for clean scans and complete healing. Thank you again for your prayers and support! ❤️ Have a safe and Happy New Year! I know that I am looking forward to 2020! 🎉😁
