Journal

Two years from the date of the injury for Ben as of tomorrow . Just an update for those that are far away but continue to keep up with us.
First and foremost we have a wonderful supportive community and friends from all over.  We’ve had neighbors stay here so I can get a break, my college roommate and her husband pitching in on so many levels,  my best friend from high school making sure I get to NH once in a while, folks bringing us meals to share, sometimes even being invited over to others homes which is always a treat for both Ben and I,  food lots of food for which we are so grateful. My days are spent in the kitchen so the meals really do help.  We appreciate every ounce of everything.
Ben looks good and still keeps positive. Last year at this time he was driving his electric chair with his head. This year he uses a joystick with his left hand. He’s learning how to live in the left handed world that I’m accustomed to.  He’s still going to project walk in New Hampshire (private therapy) three times a week.  I think he feels very much at home there. They get him out of his chair and make him do all sorts of things to gain strength.  His biceps are coming back!  I’ve always loved those biceps of his and it’s nice to see them again. His core is stronger and still developing.  He’s now back in OT so we can get that hand to his mouth to feed himself.  It’s getting there. When he went back for his evaluation last week the OT saw some good improvement and was pleased.  Ben will be in a trial with an FES bike which he began a couple of weeks ago.  Sorry I can’t explain it but we are hoping it will build core and upper body strength. Ben is up for most anything at this point.  It’s a very slow process and we have some great aides that are very devoted to him for which we are grateful.
For me, I’m trying to work on taking more breaks.  This is not an easy life. I try not to think too much about that though. It keeps me sane although Ben may disagree with that.  With both Jacob and Ben my life is full that’s for sure.  I’m still working a few hours a week doing my music . Ben is mentoring a small sales force of young folks and seems to love it.  Glad he keeps his head in the game.
We have had many visits from friends far and near and really appreciate the company.
Winter is coming and Ben is already freezing and more stiff from the cold. I’m not looking forward to that for him. I don’t think he is either.
Thanks again for not forgetting about us. Two years can make that happen but it hasn’t.
I hope I can bring you more good news as the months pass🙏

Can’t say thank you enough💖
Always love
Marcy 💕
