Newest Update

Journal entry by Ben Seifried

The feeding tube is coming along. I’m continuing to increase the feed rate so I don’t have to be hooked up to it for so long. Since I do have a pump and backpack I can take it with me too. However, so far my stomach hasn’t agreed with that too well. I should be getting 4.5 cartons per day but I’m only getting 3 for various different reasons. Therefore, I need prayers I’ll be able to figure out a good schedule to get all the nutrition I need.

On Aug 26th I finished with chemo because it was no longer working. The worst part is that the only other options are oral (pills) but I can’t swallow. There is 1 clinical trial that is an option, which I signed consents for yesterday, that is a combination of an already FDA approved drug and a new one. They are both immunotherapy drugs that will be administered via my port. There are some hurdles to get over, all out of our control, before being able to start the trial. The last time I stopped treatment, the cancer started to spread rather rapidly, which is of course a big concern having to wait to start the trial, but there are no other medical options left.

We’re still fighting and still praying. However, the situation is getting harder and scarier. I’m having a lot of anxiety lately, along with the constant pain and fatigue, and I’m only able to sleep a few hours at a time.

Please join us in praying for a miracle, that the trial can start quickly, that the trial will be beneficial, that my pain and anxiety would go away, and that I can get better sleep. Also, please pray for Autumn as she is shouldering so much right now on top of having to watch me in all the lows without being able to help/fix the situation.

Matthew 26:39
And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”
