Phase 1-Surgery CHECK
Phase 2-Chemo CHECK

Phase 3 is radiation and I am almost halfway through! I have been feeling good since chemo ended. Radiation started on May 8th and I go every day Monday-Friday for 20 treatments. They are radiating both the area where my tumor was and targeting the lymph nodes since I had some positive cells there. I have been tolerating the Radiation really well and besides being a little fatigued I haven't noticed anything...except the major inconvenience of driving back and forth to the hospital every day! I will continue working through the end of the school year, but I have cut down to half day to accommodate my radiation treatments. It's hard to believe it's almost the end of the school year, but I am ready for summer!

We met with my oncologist just prior to my last chemo treatment and that was definitely a wake-up call that even after all my active treatment is over and I'm considered "cured" there is still more work to do! I will have daily medication and a monthly injection to decrease the chances of cancer recurrence by suppressing any estrogen my body is trying to produce! Since all of this is throwing me into menopause about 7-10 years before my body is ready I will also be going in for an infusion every 3 months to help strengthen my bones and prevent early osteoporosis. Of course, all of these drugs and treatments have their own side effects, but we have no way of knowing how my body will react. We are committed to taking it one day at a time just as we have this whole journey. I'm hopeful that I will tolerate everything well.

I will be doing everything I can to stay healthy and prevent this from ever coming back!
