Becca’s Story

Site created on August 26, 2022

Becca and Chris Groenwold were blessed with a twin pregnancy in addition to their two lovely children, Haven age 9 and  Cohen age 7. Due to a previous C-section a complication arose when one of the babies attached internally at the incision line. Now the placenta is growing through the incision, onto the bladder and it is also covering the cervix, for a triple complication. Becca began to bleed at only 23 weeks and was transferred to Abbott Hospital. She will remain in the hospital for close monitoring of her and the babies for the remainder of her pregnancy.  She has a wonderful/ knowledgeable team of doctors and nurses caring for her.

Becca has asked that we pray for these babies and her family at home during this journey.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Rebecca Groenwold

some more updates…
Halston had her mri’s of her head , orbits, and neck Monday under sedation and they gave her a day to recover and Wednesday had her MRI of her abdomen focusing on her liver also with sedation . The areas on her Temple and jaw are confirmed hemangiomas and the temple one is growing so fast they worry it may obstruct her vision. The results of the Liver mri  showed she has well over 6 spots in her liver . This was hard to hear but she’s a FIGHTER so we will fight with her! So the doctor consulted with hematology and the vascular team at the U of M who she will continue to follow up with once we discharge from childrens . They want to start her tomorrow on a drug propranolol which is a beta blocker but has found to treat infantile hemangiomas. So today she also got a echocardiogram to check her heart and a EKG. She also needs a repeat tumor marker test to make sure her numbers are trending down . Please say some prayers for sweet Halston❤️🙏🏻

I also had a follow up for my bladder today to see if it is still leaking , it is in fact still leaking . It is healing but I will keep the catheter in for 4 more weeks.
Babies are growing well! We are just working on feedings we are praying by the end of the month they will be home ! Thank you for all of your prayers we are so grateful for each and every one of you ! You all mean so much and we love you !
