Journal

Mom is having PET scan today. This diagnostic process totals approximately (2) hours. Results will not be available until either next appointment or call with her oncologist. I (Darla) will see if a CD of PET and other radiology can be provided today.

A PET scan (positron emission tomography), will detect any chemical or behavioral changes in organs. She will have a radioactive sugar delivered via IV. Let that circulate for about an hour, then about 20 minutes for the actual scan. PET scans are effective in identifying any cancer much earlier than other forms of radiology (CT, MRI). Cancer will show as a very bright spot (glow). Praying for no glow!

This afternoon, we are going to her PCP, for cortisone shots in spine and shoulder. This will greatly decrease the need for opiates for pain relief.

Her sugar has been kept low. Mom is on a strict diet now. We are making certain her carbs and sugar is low. Yesterday’s total, approximately 3g carbs; 8g sugar. She is eating healthy vegetables and lean protein.

Please do continue to pray and share her GoFundMe, along with a personal note.

Should you have any questions, please do reach out to her children. Mom and Dad are always willing to have great conversation and visitors. We (Darla, Kelly, Bubby (Stan Jr.) and Annette) do; however,  ask to please keep questions to Mom and Dad to a minimum as well as any topics or conversation which could add to stress levels. Stress can cause spreading of cancer.

We thank you so very much for your prayers, comfort, visits, and any giving or sharing of GoFundMe. There is also a link on this page for giving.

“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the LORD Jesus Himself said  'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' ".  Acts 20:35 (NIV)
