We headed back to KC to begin Round 4 of chemo. The medicine this round includes Cytarabine every 12 hours for 4 days. This medicine causes Abe to react with a sunburn, mostly on his face and hands. Five doses in and he is  very tired and pink, the only pain he has is on his hands. Sunday morning he gets 2 new medicines; Dexrazoxane and MitoXantrone, these will be administered for 4 days. Main side effect they say to be aware of is his pee turning blue/green. Abe thinks that sounds fun!

We had a busy start to this round, The Big Slick '24 was happening this weekend in KC. The 15th year of a celebrity packed weekend raising money for Children's Mercy. They have raised over 21 million dollars for the hospital over the years. It was founded by former KC locals, you may recognize a few: Rob Riggle, Eric Stonestreet, Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, and Heidi Gardner. They are now joined by over 40 other celebrities for a weekend full of activities in and out of the hospital. Abe also had the opportunity to meet with Al Roker from the Today Show for an inpatient interview on Friday morning. The child-life team chose him to be their patient spokesperson because he's such a charmer! Joel, my parents, and the boys were able to join us too. The whole weekend, including parts of Abe's interview will air Monday around 9:30 on the Today Show. He also got a visit from a group of SNL celebs! They hung out, signed merch, and had lots of laughs. Abe didn't know any of them, we don't let him watch much SNL yet, but it was still such a cool experience to get to be a part of.

We will finish the chemo next week. Then back to the waiting game of numbers dropping and recovering. We continue to be thankful for CMH and all they do for us. So many experiences to distract us from the day to day. We miss home already. The pools weights, and four wheelers sound a lot more fun than movies in a hospital bed.

Counting down the days already. Thanks for your continued prayers.
Leslie
