Journal

Well, a lot has happened since the last update.

March 28th was a great day.  The three of us walked through the neighborhood, raising funds for MMRF.  Barry clocked in 3.25 miles and our little team raised almost $9,000!  Good news!

Then, on Tuesday, April 13th, Barry got a fever and was told to go to ER for the experts to try to figure out why. He was admitted from the ER back to the unit where he had the transplant.  Bad news...

He went through a battery of tests, and they learned that he did NOT have Covid, nor any other infection that could be identified.  Good news!

By Thursday, April 15th, he was still having a fever and no one could figure out why. He was tired and generally feeling pretty punk. Bad news....

However, his spirits and sense of humor endured.  Good news!

Also on Thursday, they thought they had found the culprit for the fever.  Good news!

But it's likely the culprit is Pomalyst, the chemo drug he's been on.  Bad news...

Friday, they did a "lung washing" to rule out any other bacterial infections.  None found, which was, relatively speaking, more good news.

By Sunday night Barry was fever free, and by Tuesday, he was able to go home.  Very good news!

So it's been a bit of a roller coaster, and I don't have all the medical terminology.  Things are in a state of flux, waiting for more specific information from the (excellent and attentive) medical team.

As we know more, we'll post.
