Barb’s Story

Site created on April 27, 2020

Barb Widmer was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma (incurable brain cancer) in April, 2020. She continues to defy the statistics for this horrible disease, and she's a true fighter with a beautiful spirit! We will keep family and friends updated through this Caring Bridge site. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement as Barb battles this. Thank you for visiting!

Journal entry by Jen Leach

This morning, Barb had a follow-up scan because one month ago, the doctors thought they saw something suspicious. Normally, her scans are every two months.

Results indicated a new, but very small new tumor. She will need radiation (just one dose) followed by six months of oral chemotherapy (“again” she says 😉). Her doctor feels that he will totally eradicate the tumor. She has an upcoming radiation consult on April 16th.

Despite this, Barb feels good and is leaving for California with her son, Mike, and his boys tomorrow bound for Disneyland! She was given the all-clear to leave her Optune at home for the trip – something she’s very excited about. She wonders how gray her hair is at this point after four years.😁

Thank you for continued prayers, thoughts, and continued support for Barb.
