Newest Update

Journal entry by John Coughenour

Hey fam, I wanted to send you an update.

On New Year's Eve, we turned a corner for Barbara's recovery, and ever since then it has felt like her days are progressing more and more. Advancements in walking and ADL's.

For the past 3 days, Mom and I have been playing cards (King's in the Corner), and that has been a lot of fun (also a great activity for rebuilding her hand-eye coordination). She has been absolutely RUTHLESS! Her current stats are 4-2. I squeaked out a couple of wins! ;)

And, we've been playing paddy cake which also strengthens her hand-eye coordination.

She now has a countdown for herself on her phone until she is discharged to come home, (which is currently set for January 10th), there's still a long road of recovery ahead for her once she gets home, but each day is a win and an opportunity for us to count our blessings, and celebrate the gift of Life, and each breath we are given. It is all so very precious.

Our current prayer focus is regarding her hearing, eyesight, and coordination. Let's "feel" into her ability to hear each beautiful sound of the world with perfect precision, able to see the beauty of the world with absolute accuracy, and able to move with strength, confidence, and balance in all her movements. I visualize her smiling (which isn't hard to do) and feel that feeling you get when you are around her in her joy. It is proven that visualization and using the power of our emotions help amplify our prayers like fuel.

Thank you again for all of the prayers and support. This is a marathon, and we will be reaching out to people for support as her recovery continues after she has come home.

WITH All OUR Love,
The Coughenours
