Banks’s Story

Site created on January 18, 2023

Welcome to Banks Schadler's caring bridge site. We are using this as a place to keep all of our family and friends updated on Banks and his progress!

On Monday, January 16th, Banks stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest. After several minutes of Madison performing CPR, paramedics arrived on the scene and after a short time, they were able to resuscitate him. Banks has been in the fight of his life since that very moment, and what a fighter he is! Banks is currently intubated and hooked up to a ventilator. We have the strongest support system and people surrounding us, and we have felt the prayers wash over us. We will continue to pray bold prayers because we serve a mighty God that is near and hears our requests.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Ryan Schadler

After 10 days in the PICU, we were discharged to come home! Banks is pictured with his favorite nurse, Whitney! Banks continues to taper off his sedation meds and has minimal remaining side effects of withdrawal. He continues to have junk in his chest, but using his strong little muscles to cough it up! Doctors are pleased with how clear his lungs are now sounding.

The next several days and weeks we have follow up appointments that are very important! We are still waiting to hear back from pathology, cardiology, and immunology.

Being at home is such a blessing and we are overjoyed, yet we are wrestling with anxious thoughts wanting to make sure our little boy is okay. God has done miracles and we are reminded that Banks is His. Thank you for all the prayers, we are so thankful for each of them!

We will continue to provide regular updates on Banks’ health as we receive them, but it will not be a daily post.

Blessings to each of you!

In Christ,
Ryan
