Cydney’s Story

Site created on January 24, 2020

During 2019, our family had been trying to have our 3rd child. During that year we experienced 2 miscarriages. We talked about adoption after our oldest's adoption by my husband was finished. After much thought we decided to wait until that was completed to start.

A week and a half before his was finalized, we were presented with a private adoption opportunity and KNEW it was God!

Birth mom is measuring small, so she has 2 due dates: Feb 21st and March 20th. So baby BOY should be coming SOON!

Journal entry by Cydney Ballew

It has been such whirlwind of emotion the last 2 weeks! I got the text from Karsyn’s birth mom at 8ish Wednesday 3/4 that her water had broken! Everything happened so quickly for her and she gave birth to a 5lb 13oz baby boy at 10:46pm! She did absolutely amazingly! HE IS PERFECT!

He passed all of his screenings. We were able to take him home 3/6 around 8:30pm!

He’s been at home with us since then and is just a joy! He’s eating a good bit, and we’ll go back to the doctors tomorrow for his 2 week check up. At his first appt, he was down to 5lbs 9oz, then went back 2 days later and weighed in at 5lb 10oz. So prayers that he’s continuing to gain weight would be great!

I also believe he has an umbilical hernia. The research I’ve done says that unless it’s really bad, they wait for it to heal itself between 1 and 2 years of age. We’ll see what the doctor says when we go! So keep that in your prayers as well.

We still haven’t started the adoption process yet, but are hoping to soon. All this virus stuff going on, we’re trying to stay inside, so we probably won’t start until self quarantining is finished. For now, we’re self distancing and oiling up in the Ballew house!

We have also canceled the dinner. We are not 100% sure we’re going to do it again. It will depend on how long all of this lasts. I am so thankful to those who were willing to donate baskets and food! So many of you came together to help us, and it shows what servants of God you truly are!

If you would still like to donate, you can use the GoFundMe account linked to this page. It is not the Caring Bridge donation button, it’s listed under “Ways to Help.” Or you can personally contact me as well for my address/Zelle/Venmo information as well. We know this is a trying time with people being out of work, so if you feel like you’d like to give you can...but don’t feel obligated!

Our church has set up a meal train as well, however, with us being quarantined, we have kind of halted it for now as well!

We want to thank you for all of the prayers and sweet messages about all of this! We continue to be thankful that God and his First Mom gave us the opportunity to raise this sweet boy! We will hopefully be able to throw something for everyone to meet him that hasn’t yet at some point!
