Bailey’s Story

Site created on September 5, 2023

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

As many of you know, Bailey was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (GPA). In order to control the inflammation this causes to her blood vessels, she has required treatment with medications that suppress her immune system's ability to fight off infections. Last week, Bailey was admitted to the ICU at Children's Hospital in Denver with an infection of her brain (encephalitis).

I am Bailey's aunt (Melissa's sister) and will continue to update this page.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Melissa McAtee

Sorry it’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything. I guess no news is good news! Bailey had a swallow study again yesterday and passed the test, she can have regular liquids to drink. She had another MRI last night as well. The areas of her brain that the west nile affected are improving and showing minimal. DISCHARGE IS TOMORROW!! She will continue PT and OT as outpatient at home. Prayers for continued strength as she navigates through this.

Thank you to everyone for absolutely everything you have done, you all are amazing and a blessing! God is good! We look forward to putting these last 75 days in the hospital behind us.
