Journal
Hi everyone!
I am so happy to share the good news that this past Wednesday I reached the 30 day post-transplant milestone, and we are now home again in McCall! My blood counts have been recovering nicely, my energy is recovering gradually, and with the exception of some mild, intermittent nausea, I'm feeling good! (Now if I could just grow back some hair.)
René and I were extremely grateful for the use of Tom and Nancy's condo, for Judy and Paul's care for our dogs, and for our neighbors Larry and Diana, who mowed our lawns while we were gone, but it has been wonderful to be home. Yesterday was my first day back in the office, and I am really looking forward to seeing everyone at our two churches this Sunday.
My next recovery milestone is the 100 day mark. Until then, I am on some serious anti-viral meds and a low-microbial diet, meaning no fresh fruits, no fresh vegetables, and no sketchy leftovers, despite my inherent aversion to wasting food. I also have to be really careful to avoid picking up any kind of viral, fungal, or bacterial infections from interacting with people, our dogs, or our garden, all of which will be a challenge. (Can you say, "Who was that masked man?")
We are so thankful for all of your continued prayers and notes of encouragement. We have been extremely blessed throughout this process through all of you, as well as the excellent staff at St. Luke's Cancer Institute and Hospital. Thank you for checking in, and God bless you all!
