Journal

As I sit here tonight rocking my sweet ONE YEAR OLD to sleep I cant help but be in disbelief. Disbelief his is one year old. Disbelief of the wild year we have had (which feels like an understatement) disbelief that we have made it. Looking back over the year here is a tiny summary of our year.

8 days admitted in the hospital before having Malachi 116 days early.

30 seconds to see him (literally 30 seconds delayed cord clamping) before they whisked him away.

Day 2 they started feeding him.

Day 7 I was finally able to hold him.

Day 13 He opened his eyes for the first time.

Day 15 Isaac held him for the first time.

Day 87 I heard his first cry. The day the took out his breathing tube!

Day 175 We get to go home!

Day 365 he has gained 14lbs 9 oz and grew 14 inches! He is such a happy baby and gives out free smiles like they are candy!

Things we have learned in our 190 days at home: He loves to smile, he is very stingy on his laughs but will give them up every now and again, loves to chew on any type of tubing, his pacifier is still his favorite thing, he loves to eat bananas, pears, and peaches, he also is a mamas boy. He loves to watch Stormie and doesn't mind her licking him. He also loves to growl which might be our favorite thing he has learned so far.

these are just a few of the exciting things amongst all of the fear and uncertainty. We were told at his gestation and circumstance that the likelihood of him surviving was 40%... By the grace of God Malachi is here. He truly is our miracle. Thank you's never feel like enough but truly from the bottom of our hearts thank you for the prayers, well wishes, friendly check-ins, donations, meals, help with our dogs. It takes a village and our village is so gracious, generous and loving and we could not have made this journey without all of you.
