Baby 'H'’s Story

Site created on November 15, 2018

On 11.1.18, Bethany and I received heartbreaking news at our 20 week ultrasound appointment. Our baby has a rare condition that causes fluid build-up in its chest, abdomen, and other areas of its body. The condition is called "hydrops fetalis" and the cause for Baby H remains unknown, or "idiopathic." We were told the same day that this baby would likely expire within one or two weeks and we should decide whether or not to terminate the pregnancy. We chose to give this buddy a fighting chance and proceeded with an amniocentesis to check for any chromosomal abnormalities and infections that could have caused this condition to know how to treat it.

We are doing all we can to save this little guy's life and try to update friends and family as we proceed down this long journey. Since it's proven to be difficult to keep track of who we've updated, we have decided to openly share with those that are interested. Thank you all for the loving thoughts and prayers we've already received. We feel the love and know that Baby H does too!

Journal entry by Jonathan Hodges

Hello Everyone,

Bethany and I would like to thank everyone for the love and support during our journey with Walker. The love and support we had this past Sunday was incredible. We miss him immensely, but we know he's in a better place. I found out that the service on Sunday was recorded and can be viewed at the link below. I thought it would be fitting to share his service with you all, considering many of you have been praying for us and Walker.

Love,

Jonathan & Bethany
