Special thank you too our wonderful donor, Nick Ellis, who we were able to finally reach out to and responded back to us by email.
Of course after crying happy tears, I emailed him this:
Of course after crying happy tears, I emailed him this:
"Well hello! It is SO great to hear from you. You have no idea the impact you have made on our family. Avery is my only child and he was diagnosed at age 12 with severely progressive AML. In fact he was near death and the cancer was not just in his blood, but also his spinal cord and brain. The chemo worked for awhile, but he relapsed after only 6 months.
We are forever be grateful for your kindness and you're perfectly matched bone marrow. You gave him his life back and there are no words that can truly explain how appreciative we will always be for you to have come into our lives!
He is 14 now and in such great health. We just celebrated his "new" birthday of being 1 year cancer free!
I'm not sure where you live but we would love to zoom with you sometime if you are willing. We are currently traveling from Houston Texas to my parent’s house in Colorado but will be available anytime Sunday or whenever it is convenient for you.
And again, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I'm also going to email you his caring bridge site in case you would like to see his awesome progression of recovery and remission, all thanks to you!"
