Austin’s Story

We appreciate all of your prayers and positive vibes! Please continue to pray for him as he is not out of the woods quite yet and as we as a family journey through these unchartered waters.

Most of you already know what's been going on from my Facebook post but if you don’t know here it is again. Austin had bad stomach pains after a field trip on 1/13/2023. The nurses at school thought he might have appendicitis so I took him to urgent care, they said he probably had it but they didn’t have the right equipment suggesting I take him to the hospital.

We then took him to Waconia hospital who told us yes, he did have it and it was enlarged and ready to burst but they don’t work on pediatric patients so we took an ambulance to Children’s Mpls thinking he would be seen right away instead we waited and waited and waited til the next morning when they finally operated.

He had an appendectomy on 1/14/2023. They sent him home the same day and a few days later he had terrible stomach pains. And since no one takes kids we had to take him right back at Children's Mpls. We found out he had a super bad infection and a small obstruction in his bowel.

He wasn’t able to eat anything when we got here and he just wanted water more than anything in the world but he couldn’t have it due to the “care” plan. He was slowly able to eat ice chips and chew gum and then liquids and then that became disastrous and he could not keep anything down so he’s back to no foods or liquids.

He’s hooked up to so many antibiotics and medicines. He’s had his blood drawn and given medicine in places you wouldn't imagine, so many scans and x-rays. All things that would make a grown up cry but he’s taken it like a champ.
