This next week is technically his last week of the intensification phase. He is scheduled for chemotherapy and a blood count on Tuesday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he will not need any other transfusions and that we won't need any additional appointments this week.
He is still neutropenic (high risk for infection) so we have pretty much been home bound. We cannot risk him being exposed to the nasty bugs that are out during the winter months. It makes everyone a little stir crazy, but we find things to keep us entertained.
We have been fortunate to have some very kind and caring friends still reach out to see how they can help our family. The little things, like going to the grocery store or bringing a meal to us, really is helpful especially now that Alex is back at work and I am traveling back and forth to Sacramento with Auggie at least once to twice a week. So, thank you!
The next phase of treatment is called interim maintenance #1 and it involves being in the hospital for 3 to 5 days every 2 weeks. I am personally not really looking forward to that. It is difficult to be away from Emerson and home for so long and rest is always difficult in the hospital. I will keep you updated when that phase starts!
I have started a facebook page for quick updates of Auggie's journey if anyone is interested in following:
