Audrey’s Story

Site created on May 6, 2018

My sister Audrey has been battling cancer for 2 years. Exactly, 2 years ago this month she had a double mastectomy. Since then she has had one heck of a roller coaster journey. She had reconstructive surgery which later resulted in a very bad infection, that was 7 months ago. This past week she had a pet scan as a result of an xray showing a nodule one her lung, well the results were not what we had prayed for. She was told that her cancer had spread and was now metastatic stage 4 cancer. The cancer was in her spine, scapula and a spot on her sternum. This Tuesday she will see her cancer doctor to see if they can biopsy the area around her sternum, so they can determine what is the next step. Although Friday was a tough day filled with crying, anger and only the second time I ever heard her wanting to give up. Today she is back to the warrior I know she can be.
I’m sure she is scared but she is reassuring us all that she is ready for thus next journey.

well the days continue to give us a finding we and the doctors are not she of why. The nodule on her sternum is too close to her lung to do a biopsy, so it’s another surgery and they will put the port back in her for the treatments.
still not sure what the treatments are.
