Cycle 1, Day 1 🤍
Last Tuesday we decided it was time for a change and to stop doing IV Chemo.
So, where’s life been at the last week?!
Last Wednesday I got approval for my new chemo pill (Hallelujah!), they said it could take up to 2 weeks for approval and mine took like 24hours only!
Friday, I started the morning with a zoom with my Mayo doctor and she agreed with everything my doctor here is saying. And agreed it was time to switch things up, so that’s what we’re doing. I love it when they’re on the same page. Friday I also had my oral chemo training. Learning all the dos and the don’ts while on the pill and all the side effects. The side effect list is long just like IV Chemo was, but my doctor said I should expect to experience 1-3 side effects, that’s what’s common.
The weekend came and it was filled with lots of family time and hanging out with our friends. And I checked something off my bucket list… I saw Luke Combs in concert with my three amazing sisters. What a night that was!
Monday morning, I had my eye exam. With this type of chemo, it can take a hard hit on your eyes and cause detached retina, blurred vision, dry eyes, etc. So, we needed to get a base eye exam to see where my eyes were at before starting the pill. Monday my pills also arrived!!! Yay!!
Yesterday I had an appointment with my doctor here to get labs done, sign consent and just make sure everything was good to go to start the pill today.
And as of this morning, I officially started taking my new oral chemo pill. I will take this pill once a day for 14 days straight then get 7 days off, then do it all again.
Nervous, yes. Scared, obviously. Hopeful and excited, heck yes!
With anything, change is scary, but change can also be a wonderful thing.
I am hopeful and excited for this new journey.
Thank you all so much for the continued prayers, love, and support.
We truly appreciate it so much!
