Arthur’s Story

Site created on December 6, 2019

We’ve reached a very sad stage in our father’s journey where we are preparing to say goodbye to an amazing man.

Art has been struggling with heart failure for many years and entered Saint Rose’s hospital in Henderson, NV. last Thursday complaining of shortness of breath. He was diagnosed with mild pneumonia and admitted. He has been struggling to recover from the pneumonia and his heart is functioning about about 15% of its capacity. If he is physically able to tolerate surgery, he will undergo an upgrade of his pacemaker on Monday to update the unit and add a wire around his heart to help support its function.

Regardless of the outcome of the surgery our father’s time with us is coming to an end and we are cherishing every minute we can. He is surrounded by all of his children and receiving great care.

Our hope is you will share your thoughts and wishes here and we will share them with our dad. We will also use this page to provide updates.

Journal entry by Mitch Petrie

When we started this page we thought we had lost our dad. But, true to form, Art defied the odds, recovered and proved all his doctors wrong for over a year. Today we are sad to share that our Dad, Art Petrie, passed away peacefully this afternoon. His big heart gave way and could no longer sustain him. Please keep him in your prayers 💕he was negotiating with God right up to the end  of his time on earth 🙏🏻
