Well. Our new friend came with some hard news. We met the neuro- ophthalmologist Tuesday. He looked at all of Arthur’s MRIs and did a full eye exam and consult. Based on all of that, he confirmed that Arthur’s vision loss is long term. His optic nerves on both sides are scared from the cancer cells that took over the nerves. He has some light perception in his left eye and can see very close up with his right. He is legally blind.

So what now. We stay the course with vision therapy through school and we were referred to an OT that specializes in vision therapy as well. We will continue to work with the mobility specialist on getting comfortable with the white cane.

We found a karate studio that currently has another student with low vision, so we will start that as soon as chemo slows down a bit. 🥋

We will also look into music therapy, as that has been a stress reliever for him during clinic visits.  🎶

We grieve the loss of what could have been, and are grateful our little fighter is here with us. 💚He goes into the world head first, and we are confident he will continue to adapt and make this world better for it.⭐️♥️

🎉🎉On another note, we celebrated his LAST rylaze shot yesterday! 🎉🎉This is a huge milestone  because we can now spend far less time at the clinic. The clinic staff were amazing and celebrated with us! They decorated his door and room and gave him a big send off when we were leaving. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

All the nurses know him, and it was amazing to see them all telling them who was there and accommodating the celebration to his needs. We are so grateful for the amazing staff! They have made this journey a lot more tolerable.💚
