Peter Jeremiah’s Story

Please visit https://littlemomentswithpeter.com/ for the newest updates. We no longer use Caring Bridge.

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated about baby Peter Jeremiah Armstrong's health. We started the updates during pregnancy, when we found out, around 17 weeks, that he likely has Trisomy 18.  His original due date was Dec. 11 (LMP) and Dec. 15 (Creighton Model Charting). He was born on Nov. 22, at 37 weeks 2 days. Peter does have Full Trisomy 18 (every cell in his body has an extra chromosome 18). This causes a lot of health issues. In Peter's case, it caused his body to not grow a diaphragm on his left side. It also caused a large hole in his heart (VSD). Doctors have told Trisomy 18 parents that their babies are "incompatible with life" and many parents are encouraged to discontinue pregnancy or withhold life support at birth. However, the narrative is changing. Many parents are choosing full intervention for their Trisomy 18 babies and now these children live longer than the previous life expectancy of hours to days, rarely weeks, and hardly ever making it to their first birthday. Peter has been defying the odds since his birth. We don't know how long we have with Peter, but we are going forward, one day at a time, in the hopes that Peter can one day live a relatively stable life, at home with us. We appreciate your prayers and words of hope and encouragement. We do not need any financial support (in case this website asks you for donations). Thank you for visiting.
