Armando’s Story

Site created on April 18, 2022

Armando was admitted to the hospital for a brain tumor on Saturday, April 16. He's receiving the best possible care at Sharp Memorial, and will have a game plan for his road to recovery soon. I'll be posting daily updates sometime after 8 PM PT, and will add in sporadic updates as they come in. If you have any questions about Armando’s progress or other misc. questions, please reach out to Alejandro. If you're interested in helping, please consider clicking on the Meal Train link in the "Ways to Help" section (we will not be doing a GoFundMe, but many thanks to those of you that have asked).

Journal entry by Heriberto Albanez

Family and Friends,
One year ago today, and after his last radiation treatment, Armando rang the ‘Cancer Free at 23’ bell at the California Protons Cancer Therapy Center.
Since then, Armando started volunteering at the Prebys Cancer Center on Thursday’s and shares his service and story with many new cancer patients.
On Tuesday’s, he collaborates with his therapist on post cancer psychological issues and has made tremendous strides.
Armando plans to return to school next month, and for the next semester will increase his school and workload.
While all of this has been a blessing towards his full recovery, what we are most proud of is our entire family’s renewed look at life. Our loving God has blessed us with healing, hope, and a deeper trust in Him. We are always amazed when we are reminded and told of your prayers for Armando and All of Us.
We are grateful for everything. We are constantly reminded of life being fickle, and we always hope to turn to all of you in Love – and remind ourselves we are all in this together.
God willing, we plan to visit Lourdes, France in June of this year to pay homage to Our Lady of Lourdes, and to her glorious son Jesus Christ for Armando’s second chance at life. Nothing we could ever do would suffice for the gift of our son.
We keep you all in prayer, and we love you and for me and my house, we will continue to serve our Lord.
