Anya’s Story

Site created on August 7, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Anya Weiss is a bright, loving kind and caring girl.  On the night of August 4th, 2018 Anya and her Dad were walking back to their car after the Green Bay Packer Family night scrimmage and a car hit both of them.  Anya and her Dad were brought by ambulance to the emergency room.  Anya has a fractured pelvis in three places.  She has pins and a bar placed in after surgery on Sunday morning.  She had internal bleeding through the bladder which is clearing up now.  With all the loss of blood, she had a blood transfusion on Monday morning.  She will be recovering in the hospital for a while with in house therapy.  She will need a wheelchair and walker for a few months as she heals.  Doctors think she is doing great and amazingly well for what she went through.  Prayers are much appreciated.  I will be updating her progress as it comes.

Journal entry by Mary and Todd Weiss

Anya has made a lot of progress since September 1.  She got her pins out of her pelvis area last Friday.  She got her catheter out on Tuesday after another Cystogram on Monday.  She had doctors appointments all this week and last week.

Today was a historical moment. She went to the Orthopedic Doctor today.  She had an X-Ray on her pelvis.  After in the doctors office, he told her to stand up.  She did and then walked a little.  She then went to school after her appointment and walked into Band with a walker.  The whole band started clapping for her.  She was having a very proud moment!  I was not there to see any of it but when I got home she walked to the Bathroom for me.  Such a happy Mom tonight!

Therapy begins next week.  Probably just a few weeks of it.  Emotionally she is ok and we are getting her help for that too.

She got a part in the High School Musical Mamma MIA in the ensemble.  She also was asked to Homecoming by her friend , Mitchell.  She is very excited about both of these upcoming events!

Thank you for all your prayers and support.  We appreciate all the card, gifts, food, flowers, balloons and care packages!  We love you and God bless!
