Alan & Anthea ’s Story

Site created on March 21, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge Website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated about Anthea.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.  Thanks for visiting.

This is Grog writing:

Anthea asked me to start a Caring Bridge Website for her because we may not be very diligent in writing to all of our friends and family. Come to think of it, we may not always be that diligent in adding to this journal.  However!

As some of you know two weeks ago Anthea was told she had cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer).  Not a good thing to have!  Since then we have traveled half way across the country to MD Anderson Cancer Hospital planning for surgery. The surgeon has now explained that this tumor cannot be resected because it would not leave enough functioning liver. Anthea has an appointment with him and the chief of Oncology on Tuesday to review options.

She is not at her best. I know that because today she decided to teach me how to scramble eggs. For those of you who know us, this lack of male competence will not be a source of wonder.  I have been amazingly spoiled for almost 58 years now.

We are holed up for a few days in isolation in a house that daughter Ann has rented. Warm inside but today very cold outside. Family visit occasionally and we meet and shiver outside to keep Covid 19 at bay. When Anthea keeps this appointment I will be excluded from the hospital (!)

Warm regards from us both.  More in a day or two.
