Journal entry by Jim Heller

Ann finished her 4th and final chemo treatment 2 weeks ago today.  Side effects were not as bad as chemo #2.  As a very nice gesture from the oncology department , they helped us celebrate being done with chemo with a bottle of sparkling grape juice with a bell around the neck to ring 3 times to signal completion of chemo along with a card signed by the entire staff.  The bell has a tag that reads;

Ring this bell

Three times well

Its toll to clearly say

My treatment is done

This course is run

And I am on my way

On Wednesday when we returned to the clinic for her Neulasta injection, we brought a thank you cake and card to the entire oncology staff.

She was able to get her Covid vaccine the day before, the day of, or the day after chemo so she received her first dose on February 24th and her second Covid vaccine on Wednesday March 17th. I've had my first dose and am scheduled for my second on April 9th.

She starts radiation on April 7 and will have a treatment every weekday for 21 days, finishing on May 5th.  Her spirits are high, she's looking real good and looking forward to getting the radiation treatments behind her as well.
