Journal entry by Ann Petersen —
Hi, everyone...I know it's been a while. But no news is good news!
I started immunotherapy on September 23rd. It's supposed to work with my immune system to specifically attack breast cancer cells. I'll have 9 infusions total, one every three weeks. So it'll take about 6 months to complete that course of treatment.
Then, I started radiation on September 29. It's 5 days/week for 5 weeks. I've had 8 treatments and so far I don't notice too much. There's a clear "film" called Mepitel that has been put on my skin and will stay there all 5 weeks. It's supposed to decrease the skin irritation that is common with radiation therapy. It's a hassle but if it works, GREAT!
Of course, with both of these therapies the most common side effect is fatigue. At the end of every day, yeah...I'm tired! But there's lots going on! I've been blessed to be able to continue to work and I'm told often that the people who do the best through all of this stay active. So...I'm trying.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate the ongoing prayers and support. God has been faithful through this journey and continues to show up in amazing ways. God bless all of you!
