THIRD TIME’S THE CHARM: FOR ANNIE TO BEAT CANCER. NOT ONCE, NOT TWICE, BUT FOR THE THIRD TIME.

“Well most of you know I have had cancer in the past. Well I went in for my c-t scan and low and behold it reared it’s ugly head. This time it is in my lungs and lymph nodes behind my lung. I am starting chemotherapy on august 19th at the Frauenshuh Cancer Center. I love it there they are so caring.

No need for anyone to worry about me.

I WILL KICK CANCERS ASS AGAIN. love you all” - Annie (posted on facebook)

Nicole and Sean here!

We also wanted to give a brief summary of the history of how cancer has been part of our family, since 2008 to now 2020. Everyone may know what my family, more importantly our mother Annie has been through and more importantly concurred. We want everyone to be known because we have the strongest mother.

This summary is as brief as it can be because let’s be honest, Annie is super woman.

2008: Annie and her husband, our farther, Michael both were diagnosed with cancer. Michael was first diagnosed with incurable kidney cancer and started his fight against cancer, with chemo and radiation. It continued to move to his brain, but the fight continued. Not long after Annie was diagnosed with colon/rectal cancer. She then began her fight against cancer. They were fighting the ultimate fight together, same hospital different floors. Michael did everything he could to fight  because as he always said “JUST WIN”, no matter what, even when it came to a fight with incurable with cancer. But 6 months after the diagnosis cancer started to win the fight when it spread to well the majority of his body. It was then Annie had her colon surgery and got a colostomy bag. Michael was then moved to a hospice care home where the worst happened, Michael passed away August 21st 2008. Annie was fighting her cancer battle and fighting the pain of losing her husband. It was seen when she on her as she was down to 97 pounds for his funeral. But she never let us, Sean and Nicole, see her weakness only her strength and she continued with chemo and radiation till she won the fight.

2015: Annie’s leg started to swell, she knew something was up. The colon/rectal cancer was back in the form of a tumor wrapped around the veins and nerves in her leg. The fight was back on and Annie is fighter. Chemo and radiation began, with no end in sight. That is when the Mayo Clinic blessed her with a team of doctors that were wanting to help her with her fight. The team of doctors performed an 18 hour surgery, yes 18 HOURS. They were able to take what they needed for her leg and with cancer, from her other leg to get the cancer out. While in surgery they preformed radiation inside her leg. After multiple days in the ICU and at mayo clinic she got to go home. The chemo and radiation continued till she beat the battle. The battle that without that Mayo Clinic team and her fighter mentality would not have been possible. This time the cancer left a bigger toll on her body, her leg now has Lymphedema. Which is the swelling leg caused by a lymphatic system blockage a swelling, causing her leg to be larger than the other as it was swollen all the time which comes with pain.

2020: The Lymphedema in Annie’s leg was getting worse and more painful, very painful. She got a gut feeling something wasn’t right. Well, her gut was right the colon/rectal cancer was back. To our surprise it was not in her leg, but in her lymph nodes by her lungs and in her lungs. She starts chemo August 19th 2020. No radiation this time around because she’s maxed out on the amount of radiation her body can get. That just shows how much Annie has gone through and concurred. NOW SHE WILL WIN THE FIGHT OF CANCER AGAIN, but that’s something we all know because she is the strongest woman, mother, and grandmother.

I have looked at the Obregon's as a second family for half my life now, if you have had the blessing of getting to know Annie at all you know she is the most generous, kind and quite frankly hilarious person you will ever meet. The Obregon's have been through a lot in the last 12 years and going through this once is hard enough. Please help me in making this time a little less stressful by donating to help cover out of pocket medical costs.
