To my friends and family that mean so very much to me,

I was reluctant to do this for so many reasons, you all say that you want to know what’s going on, so this seems to be the best way to accommodate everyone. Please know that I don’t want you all to think that this page is for attention, pity, money, help, or anything, except to keep you all up to date, because that’s what you’ve all said you want. I am so lucky to have so many people in my life who truly love me and I love you too!  It’s been impossible to let you all know every step of the way, there are not enough hours in the day, but how lucky I am, that soooo many of you, truly care and want to know about me! It's beyond humbling and makes me know that I’m not a complete failure!  I owe so much to you all that have ALWAYS stuck by my side, and I never want you to feel like I’m keeping anything from you. Let’s face it, I’m an open book…for the good and  bad! (insert your own snark and humor here)

We ALL have our own crosses to bear, none of us have it better or worse than anyone else,…… well, some do! There are  really shitty cards that have been dealt to a lot of you, that I have learned soooo much from!  With age comes wisdom, that I wish I would've known sooner, but, coulda, shoulda, woulda…… but I feel silly doing this compared to my beautiful Sister-in-law, Cass, my husband (yep, we’re  still here!….Whod’a thunk it, I guess it was and is true love!) And my beloved Tommy (don’t call him that, he hates it!) But without my Tom and Jerry cartoon life, I would not still be here!!!! Really, think about it! I had another foot surgery on Monday. I could write a book on Dr. Eric Lindberg, but to save you all the gruesome details, neither he nor I know the exact number of surgeries we've been through, but he’s always kept me on my toes and upright, or let’s just say…. well, my phone just buzzed to see him on the 28th! There’s my sign! Those who know me well, know how much he’s done for me.

I have breast cancer! But, I’m lucky! MY ANGEL Roxane will tell you all the gruesome details! But I’m lucky!

I will have a double mastectomy as soon as the surgeons are able to do it, and I would love to, if possible be with the theatre that means so much to me through all this!  I can't even put into words  how much BDT and those people there have been there and done…..well, more on that later!

I will keep you all abreast or (NOT SO MUCH) of the situation! Unfortunately, I’m not on any arthritis meds which scares me too, but here's the thing….. I don’t have any time for all this minutia (look it up if you need to, I really hate how old I am! REALLY!!!!) But I know the alternative!!!! And heres’s the thing,  I have sooooooo much love for those that have always, no matter what been here and truly loved me! And believe me the feeling is more than mutual, and for everything, and everyone else, my fuck you attitude has always, and, will serve me, to beat this little glitch too!

I’m so damn lucky and grateful to so many of you!  I just hope you know that!

Love,
Annie

Thank you for joining us on Annie’s CB site!

I’m Roxane Apple and I’m going to help Annie and Jerry keep everyone updated through this site so our precious Annie can focus her much needed energy on treatment and healing. This site will also help you express your support and love to them through the comments you leave.

Annie’s annual mammogram found something undetectable to her, and that led to a biopsy which led to the diagnosis of DCIS (Ductal Carcinoma In Situ). The cancer is a grade 3, and believed to be staged at a 0 or 1. The grade 3 means it is very aggressive, and the 0 to 1 staging means it was likely caught early.

Annie and Jerry have completed lots of appointments, and the decision has been made to have a bilateral mastectomy with a Goldilocks (which means she’ll use her own tissue without implants). We will update CB when Annie knows the dates, and we’re praying it is soon.

Will you please keep them in your daily prayers? Do you have a prayer group you could add Annie’s name to?

Make sure you click on “Follow Site” so you’ll get notifications whenever there’s a new post on Annie’s journey to full recovery. (The CaringBridge site is free to us and to you. You do not have to make a donation to CaringBridge to be able to see the updates on Annie.)

Love,
Roxane
