Journal entry by Carin Vogelzang

Good evening everyone!

Anne’s 16 staples were successfully removed today at the neurosurgeon’s office. The incision has healed well and her head already feels better. She is back to feeling like herself again - eating well, laughing, walking, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. She can gradually resume activities like swimming, exercise, and driving over the weeks and months ahead. The next appointment with the neurosurgeon along with the MRI can wait until we return to Michigan next summer, so (hopefully) no follow-up appointments or tests will be necessary in Brazil.

Anne is cleared to travel so we will be flying back to Brazil this week, leaving on Thursday and arriving Friday morning. Please pray for a smooth trip that will involve three flights and about 19 hours of total travel time. We can’t wait to be reunited as a family!

After today’s appointment we took advantage of a beautiful 70-degree fall day in Michigan by visiting Frederik Meijer Gardens. The pictures are of this visit and her wonderful neurosurgeon, Dr. Singer.

We’ll send one final update upon our return to Brazil. Thank you for your continued prayers for Anne! We praise  God for how well she has recovered and how well cared for we have been by Grandma Peters and our larger community of friends and family in West Michigan.
