Anne’s Story

Site created on November 27, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.  Due to the sensitive nature of Neurology ICU, if you need to contact Randy Horstman please text or email him and he will get back to you when he is able. Thank you!

Anne Horstman is a light to those who are around her.  She has a gift with tending plants and keeping an eerily spotless home.  She has a gift of gab and will talk to anyone.  She has always had a kind and giving heart and a close relationship with the Lord.  She and Randy have been married for 54 years.  They have three married kids Peter (Kirsten) Horstman, David (Aimee) Horstman Olson and Laura (Matt) Gennrich. Most importantly to any grandparent is the wonderful grandkids they have: August (Alice), Eva, Isaac, Clayton, Molly, Henry, Marit and Svea.

This last year Anne has struggled with her mobility and noticed a decline in her memory function.  She had her left hip replaced the summer of 2020, so the poor mobility in her left foot was/is thought to be not fully rehabbed from that.  She took a few falls this summer/fall, but they were more crumples than falls.  So a slow motion slump and no hitting of the head and not leaving a bruise or a scrape.  The memory function was/is thought to be a normal 76 years young thing.  And so begins the rest of the story...

Journal entry by Laura Gennrich

I've had a few people reach out to say that the card they sent my dad got returned to them.  We are working to figure out the problem because he is getting mail.

So if this has happened to you, please send them to me and I will pass them to dad until we can get the mail system away.

I can't believe it has been a month since Mom's passing.  It feels so new and yet like it has been so long ago at the same time.
