HANGOVER & SURGERY

I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy on 7/19. I’m doing ok now. I had to stay at the hospital for quite a while due to throwing up and things like that. After arriving there at 5:30 am, we finally left there about 4:00 pm.  In the evening we had to make a trip back to the hospital (Parkview Tower at Barnes) to get a Foley catheter. It was rough! I couldn’t get my jogging pants back on with the catheter so, they gave me some Incredible Hulk-green disposable pants to wear. John used his pocketknife to cut off one pant leg. I should have taken a picture because it did look Incredible Hulkish!  On Thursday, I was able to get the catheter removed by my doctor at Barnes. Hallelujah! My little wine rack made a fine portable catheter holder at home though while I sat and slept in my recliner!

I’m having some pain but not enough to warrant taking the oxycodone that I have. Ibuprofen is working! I’m just moving around slower and having some nausea.

HANGOVER

Now we get to the hangover part. My radiation oncologist said that I could possibly expect what’s called a “Radiation Hangover”. For as long as 2 weeks after radiation, I can still have radiation effects. I think that’s where the nausea comes in. I also have some radiation burns that have only occurred post radiation.

My hair is slowly growing back. I have some crazy thick eyebrows and some eyelashes now! I really am doing fine and I’m getting through this. My spirits are good as always!  Thanks for your love and prayers!! The MealTrain is amazing! Thanks to God, John & Sophia, my friends, neighbors, and work friends for taking care of me!  I love you all!

Love,

Angie
