💙 Obituary for Andrew (Andy) Beaton

Andrew (Andy) Ross Beaton passed away peacefully on April 10, 2023, just shy of his 50th birthday. Born on April 18, 1973 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Andy fought a courageous battle with an aggressive brain tumor (Glioblastoma Multiforme) for over 27 months.

Raised in Hampton, NH, Andy was actively involved in several youth sports and along with his family, was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the local chapter of the Boy Scouts of America. In his early years, he worked at Hampton Hardware, was a lifeguard at the Rye Beach Club and held different positions at many well-known Seacoast restaurants.

Andy attended the University of New Hampshire and made his mark as a lifelong friend to many. Both during and after college, he pursued his passion for the outdoors and visited Bethel, where he would ski Sunday River during the day and work in the evening. Summers for Andy were spent working as a white-water raft guide on the Kennebec and Penobscot Rivers. He loved just about any activity he could do outside and he was diligent in taking care of nature, always focused on leaving the earth better than he’d found it. He would often enjoy a simple walk in the woods with his dogs or sitting by a campfire with some good music.

As Bethel became his permanent home, he quickly became a familiar face around town and a local favorite behind the bar. He was always a helpful hand in town and an avid supporter of our local businesses. He built relationships with strangers that became family and friendships to last a lifetime.

Becoming a father to his two boys was his greatest joy. He loved sharing his passions in life with them but more, he loved watching the boys grow and develop their own passions. He was their teacher, their guide and truly their biggest supporter.

Andy is survived by his wife Melissa and two sons Owen (12) and Eagan (10) of Bethel, Maine; his mother Linda Beaton of Hampton, New Hampshire; his brother Ron Beaton and his wife Terrica of Lovelady, Texas and his brother Daniel and his wife Margaret of Rye, New Hampshire. He was the favorite uncle to two nieces and three nephews. Andy leaves behind an enormous community of friends that will undoubtedly feel the impact of his loss. He will be truly missed.

There will be a celebration of life held for Andy on June 10th at the Old Saco Inn, 125 Old Saco Lane, Fryeburg, ME from 1pm - 4pm. All are invited to attend.  Casual attire. There will be post gathering at Sunday River Brew Pub for anyone in the area.
