His surgery scar looks great and he is doing well with the Ostomy. There are some food restrictions (no/low sugar and low fiber) as well as some other restrictions - no strenuous activity.
We were able to get our game plan together for Chemotherapy, which is starting next week already! We do have staging which is very early Stage 4, and that's only because there is localized spread around his colon in the lymph nodes. There is no metastasized to the live or lungs - which is very good news!
Chemo will be in Iowa City every two weeks, from there there will be scan after 6 treatments. After the scans there will be another game plan made. As the tumor shrinks we will be able to add radiation. It will be a very aggressive chemo treatment and we will be sent home with a chemo pack for 46 hours after each chemo treatment in Iowa City. I will have to learn how to disconnect the chemo pack from the port. They did say they we will most likely develop a cold sensitivity, as well as other expected symptoms. They have already sent the prescriptions to the pharmacy.
On June 4th we will travel down to spend the night because we will have to be at the hospital very early on June 5th. They will do blood work, and place the port. After they place the port they will start the first chemo treatment which will last 4 to 5 hours. We have already been readmitted to home health as we need them.
We've been asked a lot of how people can help:
There is a benefit account at CUSB for donations (Andy Lienhard Benefit). Please make sure you include your name!
Casey's gift cards for gas would be helpful!
If you want to visit please call or text before you come. They said fatigue will be a common thing and we don't want people just showing up when he is trying to rest.
I am still waiting on benefit details and will let you know as soon as I have them!
