Andrea’s Story

Site created on February 23, 2021

I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, that had metastasized into my liver, on February 9, 2021. I am thankful to my doctor who listened to me when I said I was having weird cravings for radishes and wanted my iron level checked. That was the only sign I had that something wasn’t right with my body. It was that test that led to a colonoscopy where the cancer was found. I’m currently undergoing chemotherapy and will be having surgery to remove the right side of my colon and the right side of my liver in July. I’ve decided to go on this journey with Joy, she’s up front in the driver’s seat with me. Fear is along for the ride but he’s strapped into the backseat and he’s not allowed to tell me what to do. Nobody knows how long we have here on earth except for God, so I don’t have any idea what my doctors predict. I truly don’t care. It is my soul belief that God wants me on this journey to learn and teach something so I’m going on it with joy in my heart. Thank you for following my Caring Bridge updates. Love and hugs to you all.
