Journal entry by Maggie Welch

Hi,

My mom had a left lower lobe lobectomy with Dr. Su at Fox Chase in Philadelphia to remove 2 tumors in her lung Monday night. My dad, Robbie and Uncle Rich waited for her while mom was in surgery. The surgery was about 5 hours and extremely successful. Dr. Su removed the 2 tumors with robotic equipment. The 2 tumors were sarcoma from her original cancer. My mom stayed 2 nights in the hospital. My dad slept in the hospital with her both nights. My dad, Aunt Beth & Robbie were there every step of the way during her recovery in the hospital. They had her up and walking the morning after. She is breathing just fine and has a good appetite. Dr. Su was very pleased with the outcome of the surgery and my mom’s progress. She was discharged from the hospital about an hour ago and is ready to recover quickly at home. I want to thank all of you for your messages on this page, phone calls, texts, questions/concerns, meals, flowers and most importantly prayers. My mom and my family are so thankful for each and every one of you. If you believe in the power of prayer, please continue to pray for my mom, dad & my family. We love you all so much!
Maggie
