Welcome to Amy’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportI successfully completed my first week on #TeamHenderson. There's always a mix of emotions when starting a new job: fear, excitement, anxiety, confusion, loneliness, and stress. After the last company didn't pan out, I worried history would repeat itself. However, I've never been happier to be wrong.
This long-standing engineering firm has its priorities in order. It strives to "become a true client-centric firm with a people-first culture that is infused with innovation." Every person I've had the privilege of meeting is kind, helpful, and passionate about what they do. The marketing team will be an excellent home for me as the newest member of the Henderson team.
It speaks volumes when you're working for a company that invests in its employees. It's clear that Henderson focuses on its purpose of "creating an environment where people can reach their full potential." One unique way is requiring each employee to take the Clifton StrengthFinder Assessment.
By uncovering our Top 5 Strengths, we discover how to better utilize them in our roles and to collaborate with our teams. I took my assessment at the end of my first week and was pleasantly surprised by my results.
I am Woo, Communication, Empathy, Responsibility, and Adaptability. When I share these definitions, you'll see how they reflect the core of Amy Reinhardt.
WOO: Loves meeting (winning over) people and building connections,
COMMUNICATION: Puts thoughts into words; a solid conversationalist.
EMPATHY: Senses the feelings of others and connects to emotions.
RESPONSIBILITY: Takes ownership of what they say they will do.
ADAPTABILITY: Lives in the present and prefers to go with the flow.
I'm already seeking out ways I can put these strengths to use as the marketing assistant, as well as other areas of my life. It's also helpful to see the strengths of my team members. Even if theirs are opposite of mine, I know we can still find ways to work together.
With all the trainings, I am in a constant state of information overload, and it won't be slowing down any time soon. There is so much to learn, but I am taking it one day at a time. On my fourth day, Henderson hosted its annual golf tournament. The marketing team assisted with the event. It was a long, 10-hour day but great for team bonding and experiencing the company culture.
My body is still adjusting. I'm exhausted by the end of each day, which is why I'm limiting social activities until I get comfortable with this routine. Just like I have for the past three years, I am giving myself grace. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement. I don't know how I would take these leaps without your steadfast support.
I am glad I still have six weeks before I move into my new apartment. There is no way I could handle two major transitions at once. After all, I'm not Wonder Woman; I am a faithful child of God.
