Journal

Wow. It has been over two months since the last time I shared. But I'm certain most of you concluded that by not hearing from me, it must mean I'm out living my post-transplant life - and you'd be right. A lot has happened since my March post. It's been good, but also a bit of a beautiful mess. But that's life, isn't it? We can never plan how things are going to turn out. I proved that back in July 2021.

My job with the local roofing company did not pan out. It was a nice bridge back into the workforce after nearly three years away. I proved that my body can still handle a full-time work schedule. I was also able to learn new skills, like video creation and editing. Plus, I gained a new mentor who continues to inspire me when it comes to reaching new professional heights.

In the weeks that followed, I created a brand-new portfolio and revamped my resume; both helped me land my next job, which will be on the marketing team at an engineering firm. My start date is June 3rd, so please pray for me as I prepare for this next transition. I really want to work for a culture-centered company that I can stay with for the long run. I hope this is it!

I've also started touring apartment complexes. After moving back in with my parents in 2021, I will be thrilled to have my own place again. Monthly rent has gone up tremendously since I signed my first lease back in 2017 ($742/mo). Nonetheless, I know precisely what I'm looking for (onsite gym, in-unit washer/dryer, vinyl flooring, etc.). I'd love to be moved into my new home before August, but we will see what God has planned.

Speaking of August, we are less than three months out from the anniversary of my transplant! I am already thinking of ways to celebrate this incredible milestone. My donor, Caleb, and I have already been discussing him coming to KC so that we can officially meet. If there's anyone I want to be with on August 7th, it's the man who gave me his kidney - a healthy kidney that restored my body and gave me a new chance to LIVE.

God continues to provide as I forge ahead on this exciting path. Thank you all for continuing to accompany me on this journey. It’s been a rollercoaster, but I do not regret one minute of it.
