Reese, Leo and I are already starting to experience a lot of new firsts together. Today was definitely a new one. Amy was always an unconventional soul in life so remembering her in death seemed to call for something more her speed. So good friends of ours offered to help us get a ceramic urn that the kids and I could customize, decorate and fire to hold her ashes. 

I've been more contemplative, quiet and studious of the things around me as I try to feel Amy around us in the percussive clatter of the leaves, the crispness of the fall air or the clouds clearing right as we pulled in to decorate her urn.

Tate helped us adorn the urn with some things that we knew would be just right for Amy. Leo carefully applied an FSU logo to one side (Go Noles!) and Reese added a beautiful Eiffel Tower to the other. For me. I just added a few words that came from when we were first dating. We shed a few tears as we listened to a couple Dixie Chicks songs that she loved on the way over to paint the urn. As continually sad as this all still is, I look forward to seeing the urn as a loving vessel to always hold her. 

I have to also express my deep gratitude to so many as Amy's celebration of life approaches. Knock on wood, the weather still appears to be good for that day. Here are all of the details.
