Hi Everyone! Hope you are all having a great summer and are staying healthy!! Today was a significant day for me so I wanted to share...
I went to Dana Farber (Boston location) for my first mammogram since getting diagnosed. Everything looks great! I also met with my surgeon, and she officially discharged me! This was the first time I've been back to Dana Farber since getting my diagnosis last August. WOW has the world changed since then! Back in October when the doctor told me I should wear a mask whenever I went to a store I literally laughed and thought to myself, Pfft, don't be ridiculous, I'm not wearing a mask! I wouldn't even know where to get one. Unbelievable, right?
I'm so grateful that I finished all my treatments before Covid-19 really hit us hard.
I especially can't imagine going to those first two appointments and hearing that I needed surgery, chemo and radiation all alone.
Today in the waiting area I gave thanks for being on the other-side of this particular journey. Cancer is so daunting and brutal. It takes over every aspect of one's life. I'm so grateful that during this hard time in my life I had such wonderful, loving and caring family and friends that supported me the entire way. Today I wasn't allowed to bring anyone with me, but that's okay because I knew today, I would only hear joyful news! Some days during these past months I couldn't see this milestone. A day where I knew I was healing, and felt truly relieved that I had won this particular battle. I didn't take a lot of pictures of my hair growing back, but I did take these 2 that I find amazing. Left is today, right is on March 20th. Proof that everyday I'm growing and changing! 😍
