It’s September!! I hope your enjoying Labor Day! I realize I have not updated in a while. I just had my 4 week post surgical check up. All of the complications that I had are resolved 🙌🙌. I am working hard in physical therapy to make up for where I would have been without the complications. I have no doubt that I will catch up. Depending on the humidity, I am walking 40 minutes daily, need to get to 60. Super excited that I will be able to add weight training into physical therapy. What I would give to be somewhere on the water paddle boarding or kayaking on a day like today, however, it takes 3 months at minimum for the spinal cord to heal. I am still very limited in what I am “allowed” to do. I am incredibly grateful to know that the day will come when I can do the activities that I love and more🙌.
I pray you will never be in need of neurosurgery of any kind. However, if you are, Dr. Chun-Po Yen at UVA, along with his team are truly miraculous. Beside the expertise, beside manner; I felt completely supported, which I know that can be rare in the medical field.
The beginning of this really sucked, I would have rather step on a lego in the middle of the night for the rest of my life than repeat this process!! Those of you who have children know exactly what I mean. I do not have words to express what your support has meant to me. The prayers for healing, positive vibes, the delicious meals(btw, I need every recipe!), the messages, have all made a huge difference in my recovery. I truly am a very humble, and beyond blessed woman to have each of you care about me so much. With gratitude~ Amy
