Well all of you prayer warriors must really have God’s ear! Even though we were told there would only be a 70-80% chance of finding “A” 100% match on the registry, when they entered Amy’s HLA type in to search for a match, we got more than “A” match. We got 300 matches! We’re still trying to wrap our head around that number. I had Amy double check with the transplant coordinator to make sure it wasn’t a typo and it wasn’t.
They have begun the process of reaching out to the best candidates from that list and we hope to hear within 2-3 weeks if they have someone to move forward with. It’s still a process to make sure they find someone who agrees, is eligible and is healthy. But with 300 to choose from, I’m sure they’ll find the right donor!
