Amelia’s Story

Site created on July 26, 2022

On Sunday, July 24th, Amelia went to the hospital for COVID and was additionally diagnosed with unknown Type I Diabetes, which lead to the severe case of COVID that she has. She was placed in the ICU and put on a a ventilator. Later she was put on an ECMO machine, which functions as her heart and lungs. Her friends and family have been watching over her and are praying for her to make it through this. We will be making updates as they come. Thank you so much for caring for Amelia. We appreciate your support.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Michael Allen

Amelia visited her hand surgeon this week and he thinks she’s finally done with surgeries. She’s got one small issue but the Doctor thinks it will be ok. Meanwhile. She had some good news last month, insurance finally approved her Star Wars glove! It takes several months in production, but she’s excited!

It’s a relief to get this off of our financial plate. I’m still going through her insurance deductibles from the past 2 years, I’ve lost count of how much she may owe, but we will manage over time to pay this off. I’ve reached out to several state and federal agencies to see if they have grants to help her pay these off, so it’s a waiting game now.

Amelia started some new online art courses, she’s happy in her art world and is busy on a few art projects.

Her energy level is concerning, we went to her primary care doctor for a check up, and I’ve been taking to her stem cell Doctor to review once we get her tests back. After 2 years of living in pain from hand surgeries, I’m hoping she will feel more energetic. Keep her in your prayers specifically for more energy and the desire to be more active. Cold weather, rain and snow keeps her from riding her bike, but a few nice days of weather will get her riding again!

If you follow me you see that I’ve been traveling a lot for Southern Bride Magazine! They have asked me to teach photography  workshops at their retreats, and producing films for their events. On top of that I’ve been super busy with other photography clients. So my life as a professional photographer keeps me very busy. I think Amelia is watching me and hopefully inspiring her to pursue her art! It’s also been nice to get back to working in my career and watching Amelia get on with her life.

I’ll keep posting with updates on Amelia. Thanks for your continued prayers and support! Having you all is such a blessing to us!
