Ambra’s Story

Site created on April 10, 2023

On Friday, April 7th during her pilates class, Ambra collapsed as the result of a massive stroke.  Although emergency care arrived within 7 minutes and brain surgery was tendered in less than an hour at Vanderbilt Medical Center, she sustained considerable damage and her recovery will be long-term and difficult.  I'll post updates to this site in an effort to keep all of those who care for her informed.

So many of you have asked if there's anything you can do; I’ve thought of two options.  First—if you know us well and feel comfortable, you can send me a short video of encouragement for Ambra.  I’ll play these for her on a regular basis; I like to think that she can hear us and that these messages help her know she’s not alone in this fight. Second—anyone can help with this one—after being here in the ICU for days with this amazing staff, I’d like to be able to thank them with coffee, treats, flowers, and other tokens of appreciation.  If you’d like to send $5 to my Venmo account (@Shane-White-29 and last four of my cell are 4423), I’ll use all funds collected to smother Ambra’s care team with love.   I know I haven’t been able to respond to all messages, but know I’m deeply grateful for your outreach.
