We did it!
This morning I met with my oncologist and had my last infusion! I can remember this time last year I had just had my first loading dose of chemo. I came home and slept for three days. I feel emotional today knowing all that my body has been through and overcome.
Today my oncologist told me that my cancer had a total response to my treatment, he has no concerns it will come back. Where my cancer would spread is to the brain, as my immunotherapy cannot cross the blood brain barrier. So paying attention to severe headaches out of the norm that would wake me from sleep. He also said because they found that hormone growing tumor after my mastectomy, I have a 0.5% chance of ovarian cancer. So he’s not concerned at all really.
I have a follow up with him in six months. My blood work looked so good today he’s not even drawing labs in the summer.
As I was leaving I called Justin and all I could say is “we did it, it’s over.” We have been tested in our marriage by many hard situations and we o Lu seem to get stronger and more forgiving of each other.
Tomorrow morning I head into the hospital to get my port removed. That is the last thing before fully having my body back.
We cannot thank you guys, our friends enough for all the kind words and support. It truly makes the difference in a healthy strong mindset and a bad one. So thank you for keeping my spirits lifted!
love,
Amanda
