Journal entry by Bobbie West —
I just got this update about the celebration of life and scholarship fund from Erin, Amanda’s lifelong friend:
Per her wishes, there will be a celebration of Amanda’s life on Saturday, June 11th at Summerfield Farms in Summerfield, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to THE AMANDA CULLINAN FOUNDATION, a nonprofit 501(3)(c) that will fund an annual scholarship award for two college-bound student athletes—one from Amanda’s alma mater, Huntington High School in Huntington, New York, where she was president of the class of 1996 and a star student-athlete, and one from Northern Guilford High School in Summerfield, North Carolina, where Amanda coached lacrosse for several years and where her three beloved children currently attend school.
Amanda wanted to create the foundation (and made the first donation!) to support a student athlete who has demonstrated great resiliency in the face of adversity—in the classroom, on the playing field or in life. No one was more resilient than Amanda. This foundation will be a small part of her legacy but will enable all of those who loved her a way to honor her and to pay her kindness forward. The foundation will also support research grants for triple negative metastatic breast cancer.
Donations can be made two ways:
· by check (payable to The Amanda Cullinan Foundation, Inc). Send to The Amanda Cullinan Foundation, 6 Grace Court Greenlawn, NY 11740
· through Zelle from any online banking site (reference The Amanda Cullinan Foundation/ 917-951-5885)
Patients and caregivers love hearing from you; add a comment to show your support.
