Journal

My fight began on January 24th when i was diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia). I had been sick off and on since October and was told a number of times that i had upper respiratory infections. My blood wasnt drawn at any of my appointments.  I just continued to take the antibiotics that were prescribed to me. Also i was never told that i couldnt donate blood due to my hematocrit being too low. I had donated nearly 50 times before. Within the last year i was told 3 times that my hematocrit was too low to donate. I never understood why.

On January 20th i went to work and got dizzy and the dizziness wouldnt go away. I decided to go to the doctor again. My labs showed that i was anemic and that i had blasts in my blood. I went to the ER where they admitted me and gave me blood products to bring my RBC count back up. They ran a number of tests to try and determine why i was anemic. None of the blood tests told them anything else.

The hematologist came in and told me they wanted to do a bone marrow biopsy to rule out leukemia.

On January 24th, i was diagnosed with AML. My fight has began.
