Amanda’s Story

Site created on May 4, 2022

Amanda is the mother of three daughters (10, 15, and 18), wife to Brandon, a sister, daughter, friend, and a gentle and compassionate teacher to many little hearts.

On October 23, 2020, after only a couple of weeks of stomach pain, Amanda was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer. Still, she has faced this news with strength and bravery, and she is an example of faith to all who know her, even in the middle of her own trial.

Journal entry by Flo Oakes

For several days Amanda was in the hospital fighting an unknown infection and significant pain. The medical team thinks it is a possible c diff infection so she is being treated for that, currently. With the help of better meds and home nurses, she came home last night and slept well!

Specific prayer requests for this time:
•Pray that the home nurses are a good fit and that this temporary season of hospice is helpful.
•Pray that she regains strength quickly to prepare for the next stage of treatment.
•Pray for the next treatment, which is a chemo pill only approved for people with her specific and pretty rare genetic markers (!)--that it would be effective with minimal side effects.
•Pray that Brandon can sleep and also work some.

Brandon is her primary caregiver and has been unable to work for several weeks while hospital and other medical bills continue to mount, so we have raised the financial goal of the Go Fund Me fundraiser as we can continue to support their family in this unthinkably hard time.

Thank you all for your prayers and support!
